About, ‘Who is God?’ versus ‘Who is man?’ (Good News Bible Version used here)
— This quiz will look at what Genesis #1, and Job #38 tell us about this comparison.

Let us stand in the place of Job, a faithful follower of Jehovah, to gain his human perspective…

Job 38:1-3 Then out of the storm the LORD spoke to Job.  (2)  Who are you to question my wisdom with your ignorant, empty words?  (3)  Now stand up straight and answer the questions I ask you.

— Q1. What do you see here as God addresses Job’s complaints and struggles?

Let’s move on to the questions God asks Job…

Job 38:4-5… Were you there when I made the world? If you know so much, tell me about it.  (5)  Who decided how large it would be? Who stretched the measuring line over it? Do you know all the answers?

Job 38:6… What holds up the pillars that support the earth? Who laid the cornerstone of the world?

The answer to this is found in Genesis 1:1… In the beginning, when God created the universe,

— Q4. Genesis starts by stating God created…

Continuing in Genesis 1:2-5… the earth was formless and desolate. The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness, and the Spirit of God was moving over the water.  (3)  Then God commanded, “Let there be light”—and light appeared.  (4)  God was pleased with what he saw. Then he separated the light from the darkness,  (5)  and he named the light “Day” and the darkness “Night.” Evening passed and morning came—that was the first day.

Genesis 1:6-8… (6-7)Then God commanded, “Let there be a dome to divide the water and to keep it in two separate places”—and it was done. So God made a dome, and it separated the water under it from the water above it.  (8)  He named the dome “Sky.” Evening passed and morning came—that was the second day.

God next answers His own question from Job (8), and then asks yet another humbling question.

Job 38:9-12… It was I who covered the sea with clouds and wrapped it in darkness.  (10)  I marked a boundary for the sea and kept it behind bolted gates.  (11)  I told it, “So far and no farther! Here your powerful waves must stop.”  (12)  Job, have you ever in all your life commanded a day to dawn?

— Q10. Why is God asking such humbling questions of a man?

Again, we find the description of how God set the boundaries of the waters in Genesis 1:9-10… Then God commanded, “Let the water below the sky come together in one place, so that the land will appear”—and it was done.  (10)  He named the land “Earth,” and the water which had come together he named “Sea.” And God was pleased with what he saw.

Let’s close off the reading of scriptures there, with God stating He is pleased with His creation…
— I hope you agree that an eternally existent God, who is able to SPEAK THINGS into creation, was, and is, and ever will be, beyond our ability to fully understand or correct. (KK)

— Q11. The BIG question remains – Do you know that God…

a/ is your Creator, Lord, and Savior? (John 3:16-17)

John 3:16-17… For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.  (17) For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior. 

b/ doesn’t exist, man is supreme? (Psalm 14 1-2)

Psalm 14:1-2  Fools say to themselves, “There is no God!” They are all corrupt, and they have done terrible things; there is no one who does what is right.  (2)  The LORD looks down from heaven at us humans to see if there are any who are wise, any who worship him.

I pray that our loving, merciful Creator God will reveal these truths to each and every heart and mind. (KK)
