Some people struggle with the statements in Acts 16:31 and Revelations 21:27…
Acts 16:30-31 Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” (31) And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
— They see a problem with scripture when they read…
Revelations 21:26-27 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. (27) But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
— They can’t see how any sinner could ever be made clean enough to enter God’s Holy Heaven.
— Yes, I understand that we humans see some sins as basically unforgivable, and absolutely abhorrent. But we don’t realize that to an absolutely pure and Holy God, all sin is detestable, and He does not fit it on a scale of error.
— We also struggle mightily to comprehend the amazing GRACE of God, that He can love the unlovable.
— The problem in understanding the agreement within the above verses arises when we don’t comprehend the full and complete CLEANSING from our past sins when we repent and turn to follow Jesus. He then pours out His sacrifice on the cross as full payment of those sins, and as God’s Word tells us, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1st John 1:9)
— This can cause believers to stumble through life feeling condemned, and that’s a lie from ‘the LIAR’.
— We see that king David also repented of his grievous sins and then was inspired to write, “He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:10-12)
— There are other references I could present, however, the point is that the cleansing, forgiving power of repentance and the yielding of your past sin to the payment of Christ’s death on the cross yields a totally complete “PAID IN FULL” before this same Holy God.
— Any other notion is not of God, it is a seed of deception from Satan the ‘Great Deceiver’… There is nothing more you need to be saved than to trust in this redeeming power of Jesus. You must reject any other teaching completely, and instead receive the truth of the amazing cleansing grace of God so that He is able to no longer remember your sin against you. (SEE Micah 7:18-19 Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.)
Have you repented and turned away from your sins to follow Jesus? Start today… I would advise you to pray and ask Jesus to forgive you and make you complete and sinless by His sacrifice for you. Turn away from the sins that afflict you.
— Then read John 3:16-21… “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
— I would further ask you to then undertake a commitment to study God’s Word found in the Bible by reading through the full Gospel of John… If you are indeed repentant, God’s Holy Spirit will open your mind to the wondrous truths contained in The Apostle John’s writings.
