Where is God while the world is burning?
(I’m writing this in the time of forest fires which are taking place all over the world)
— These terrible days we are going through are causing people all over the world to watch helplessly as their communities are destroyed by fire, and worse still some have lost loved ones to those flames…
— My own heart was broken last night as I prayed for family that live near these dangers, and here I am going to write what the Lord impressed upon me in answer…
It can be summed up with the answer to the question…
What do you think is going on in God’s heart in all of this tragedy?
— God asked me that question in my mind as I lay there in prayer.
Then He took me through a time of examination of the worldwide situation as seen from the throne of our loving Creator-God.
Factor #1 – God reminded me of how my family has drifted away from believing that there really is a Creator-God. So, like most of the modern high-tech world, they believe man is responsible for the climate that is encouraging all this desolation. This means they seem to be unaware that there is any power to turn to for help, except the population of this globe.
Factor #2 – Then I was reminded of a niece that constantly posts things against Christianity from the position of one who doesn’t believe there is a God, just like so many atheists out there.
– These postings are from a community that thinks Christians are fairy-tale believers of a make-believe hard-hearted rule-making fiction.
– As such she attacks and judges churches for their “lack of positive actions”… I place that in quotations because the fact is that churches are involved in those disasters, however, especially in Canada, the atheist media is silent on this unless it fits their agenda of what they want the public to know.
That is when God revealed to me His broken heart…
It was as if He asked me to see how these attacks come before His throne.
I was reminded of God’s promise in 2nd Chronicles 7:13-14 When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, (14) if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
— This promise still stands…
However, when people have pushed God aside, saying in their hearts, I don’t want anything to do with this idea of a controlling creator-god… That Creator is looking down on His beautiful yet sin-tainted creation with tears.
– The destruction that is happening around us is not, nor never has been according to God’s will. It is because man has turned their back on His plans for peace, love, health, and well-being. We have instead pursued self-will and pleasure-seeking. This has brought upon us all the results of greed, lusts of the flesh, and rebellion against the idea of a Creator’s will.
— What is God supposed to do when He has created mankind to have the right and ability to “choose this day whom you will serve”?
— What is God supposed to do when that creation chooses to reject His loving care and rule, and instead “sows the whirl-wind”?
How dare we then shake our fists to the sky and accuse Him of neglect?
— Then God showed me His reaction to all this…
– My own heart started to break as He revealed to me His own sorrow, for God watches all, every single tragedy that befalls not only everyone on this earth, but even every living thing that exists on His once beautiful creation… See Romans 8:19-21 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. (20) For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope (21) that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
– From that moment on I could pray better and weep for the hurt that is upon this sad world.
I hope that God’s Holy Spirit will cause you to join all of us as we follow God’s heart.
— “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
— It isn’t about clapping our hands as the wicked reap what they sow… It is about a loving Father God’s sorrow over the lost going to destruction, refusing to acknowledge His sacrificial and all-forgiving love.
So as you join us in prayer, let your own heart break as you look past the sin-filled anger, attacks, and rebellion of others. Instead, focus your prayers to weep before God in an Holy Spirit inspired sympathy for how this rejection hurts our Father in heaven.
— Because that promise given to a repentant people still stands, and God is able to do the impossible… AMEN, and amen!
Let this song lead you to praise as you enter a time of prayer.
‘He is Lord…‘
