Everybody ought to know… (Who Jesus is)

— This is a lively old hymn that’s meant to encourage us to evangelism.
— I’ve always enjoyed the chance to sing it, however, I realize it should be sung using both verses below, to be complete in its TRUE MESSAGE. (See the lyrics below.)
Refrain:
Everybody ought to know, Ev’rybody ought to know,
Everybody ought to know Who Jesus is.
1/ He’s the Lily of the Valley, He’s the Bright and Morning Star;
He’s the fairest of ten thousand, Ev’rybody ought to know.
[Refrain]
2/ On the cross He died for sinners, And His blood makes white as snow;
Loving, living, coming Savior, He’s the one you ought to know.
[Refrain]
If we only sing the first verse it can be dangerously incomplete in its lyrics.
— Why do I say that? ~ Because the point of praising the Lord Jesus as “Lily of the Valley; Bright and Morning Star; The Fairest of Ten Thousand…” is fine, but falls short of truly describing who Jesus truly is. The danger comes from not KNOWING THAT HE IS GOD WITH US, EMMANUEL.
— In fact, that position that some cults take that Jesus was a wonderful prophet, or angel of God, is taken by many sects that would claim to recognize Jesus, and yet they deny that He is Emmanuel, “God with us”.
— Such a belief only leads to the Lake of Fire crying out, “But I thought I knew You!”
SEE (Proverbs 14:12, ESV) “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”
When we sing this song may we always remember that last verse:
“On the cross He died for sinners, And His blood makes white as snow;
Loving, living, coming Savior, He’s the one you ought to know.”
John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) He was in the beginning with God. (3) All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
(Who was this Word?)
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John is speaking, and testifying of JESUS.)
Jesus came to be our sin-sacrifice, so that if we receive Him we all might be saved.
(All praise and glory to Him!)
