#14 – Jehovah Tsidkenu – The Lord Our Righteousness
— When you personally realize this fact of your God, surely this name becomes…
‘The Lord MY Righteousness’.
To recognize this Bible truth, we must comprehend fully our own inability to claim a perfect righteousness that is required to enter the presence of a Truly Holy God.
— Only then can we realize the amazing love and grace God has provided to cover our failures which allows us to repent and be cleansed of all our sin, this is only accomplished by accepting Jesus’ own sacrifice in our place.
The Prophet Jeremiah proclaimed this truth in the Book of Jeremiah 33:14-17… “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. (15) In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. (16) In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: ‘The LORD is our righteousness.’ (17) “For thus says the LORD: David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel…”
— Where is this ‘Seed of David’ which was to reign forever? – You may ask…
The Bible makes it clear that Jesus, being born of Joseph and Mary, came to fulfill this prophecy and indeed waits to assert His sovereignty over all the earth.
— We Gentiles are grafted into the lineage of King David by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. – SEE: Romans 10:8-13… But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
The Jewish nation was waiting for this ‘Seed of David’ to come and save them. This was the ‘Messiah’ (in Hebrew – ‘Mashiach’) they waited for.
— Jesus tells us that He is the Messiah in John 4:25-26… The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” (26) Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”
— Any rejection of Jesus’ rule in our lives is an act of ignorance and rebellion, authored by the sworn enemy of Jesus, Lucifer (or Satan, as he is better known). Sadly, those who reject Jesus as their Savior, give up ‘His covering of Righteousness’ and eternal life to spend with Him.
— Make sure you accept Him as your own Jehovah Tsidkenu – The Lord My Righteousness.
