Jehovah Saboath – The Lord of Hosts

#11 – Jehovah Saboath – The Lord of Hosts.

— From the Hebrew language meaning, Jehovah (of) tsâbâ’ (pronounced tseb-aw-aw’) a mass of persons, especially regularly organized for war (in other words, an army).

— You will find God Almighty called by this term in over 200 places in the Old Testament. The one I find most descriptive comes from Isaiah 6:2-5… In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. (2) Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. (3) And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” (4) And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. (5) And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!”

— You may well perceive that God’s hosts are not like any hosts of this earth.

A partial description of some of God’s host, is found in 2nd Kings 6:15-17… When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” (16) He (Elisha) said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” (17) Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha

— Are our eyes opened to see the difference between the earthly hosts that oppose us and God’s forces standing ready to defend us?

— Even Satan’s demons cannot harm us if we are standing under the protection of the ‘Lord of Hosts’… SEE Revelation 12:7-12… Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, (8) but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. (9) And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. (10) And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. (11) And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. (12) Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”

— Don’t be deceived by the world’s threats and those violent forces of Satan…

Instead, let this name of God inspire reverence, worship, and trust in our Lord of Hosts.
— We can depend on His strength because our Jehovah Saboath protects and guides us.
