Do we have a correct picture of what heaven is like?

Do we have a correct picture of what heaven is like?

— I ask you to think about what you think your existence in eternity will look like…

Does that idea bring thoughts of sitting under an umbrella on the beach sipping your favourite beverage? — FOR ETERNITY???

Scripture references for verification:

2nd Peter 3:13…  But we wait for what God has promised: new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness will be at home.

Revelation 21:1… Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth disappeared, and the sea vanished.

I have a somewhat different idea of what heaven is like…

It came to me first in a dream given me as I lay sleeping in my bed in a logging camp trailer. It was as if God wanted me to see the reality of what He has planned for our eternity with Him…

It agrees totally with what is written in Galatians 5:13 (GNB translation) “As for you, my friends, you were called to be free. But do not let this freedom become an excuse for letting your physical desires control you. Instead, let love make you serve one another.”

— Our physical desires may well be thoughts of reclining under that umbrella on the beach, but God has something so much better and more enjoyable than that for us, both in this temporal life and the next eternal life.

In extremely short form, my dream of our life in God’s New Earth, (SEE Revelation 21:1), there were people joyfully serving one another. In one segment of my dream I walked into a community square and there was an outdoor banquet, with the ‘proprietors’ welcoming everyone to come and eat and fellowship (In the church we call this ‘breaking bread together’).

— There was no stress or payment involved, it was just God’s children welcoming and fellowshipping with the Family of God. And those that waited on the others did so as loving family wait on one another.

— What does the last sentence of Galatians 5:13 say?

“Instead, let love make you serve one another.”

— I woke with a new understanding of our blessed eternity with God, I now see that real joy and fulfilment doesn’t come from being served… It comes from being able to serve others.

— I trust God is (or already has) revealed this JOY TRUTH to you…

May God continue to work in us as we learn to joyfully serve one another! (KRK)
