About the Holy Spirit

About the Holy Spirit (Must I walk under His instructions?)

*God’s Word, the Holy Bible, makes it very clear that when you are a born-again Christian that God’s Holy Spirit comes to you to dwell in you and with you…

1st Corinthians 6:17-20… But he who joins himself to the Lord becomes spiritually one with him. Avoid immorality. Any other sin a man commits does not affect his body; but the man who is guilty of sexual immorality sins against his own body. *Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God; he bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God’s glory.

What does the Holy Spirit do in our lives?

— Let’s hear from Jesus Himself as He speaks of the role of the Holy Spirit…

John 16:5-14  But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’  (6)  But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.  (7)  Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.  (8)  And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:  (9)  concerning sin, because they do not believe in me;  (10)  concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer;  (11)  concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.  (12)  “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  (13)  When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.  (14)  He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

1/ The HS convicts us of sin and tries to lead us to seek repentance and forgiveness. (John 16:8)

— This conviction of our failure to live a pure life, is not to condemn us. It is God reaching out to us to lead us to repent and be saved.

2/ The HS convicts us of righteousness. (John 16:8)

— This is part of the work of leading us to repentance so we may be saved. To repent of our sin, we need to see where we have failed to do the right thing, God’s Holy Spirit opens our eyes to these things.

3/ The HS convicts us of judgment. (John 16:8)

— After we see where we failed to live a pure and sinless life (In our Creator’s eyes), we also need to be made aware of the results of our sin. The Holy Spirit reveals to us the end of time judgment that we must face if we reject God’s mercy and forgiveness supplied by Him through Jesus’ own sacrifice for our failures.

4/ The HS gives us peace and rest from Satan’s accusations.

Isaiah 63:14  Like livestock that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. So you led your people, to make for yourself a glorious name.

— If we choose the lead of God’s Holy Spirit to repentance, He also gives us a peace of mind and heart that as Jesus said in His last words from the cross… “It is finished.” ~ This is a sure guarantee that as you look to His sacrifice to pay your sin-price, it is accomplished and you are set free.

— Satan may rage and lie all he wants… He is defeated, and has no claim on you!

5/ The HS leads us to grow and to win victories for God’s Kingdom. (Because for a ‘born again’ Christian, the victory is already won, and you cannot be defeated, …if you walk by God’s Holy Spirit which lives in you.)

Luke 4:1-2  And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness  (2)  for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry.

— The Holy Spirit will also lead you to accomplish God’s will in your life, if you like Jesus, yield to this lead.

— It is not always to fields of blessings, sometimes it is to battle-fields instead.

— However, you now walk not by your own strength, but by the power of God that is living in you.

— REMEMBER TO WALK IN THAT PEACE OF MIND OF HIS STRENGTH AND POWER… (KK)

The Bible also warns us against rejecting the Holy Spirit’s directions and corrections in our lives…

Rejecting the Holy Spirit is resisting the Holy Spirit. When you reject or resist the Holy Spirit, you are not allowing the Holy Spirit to do His work. The Holy Spirit has a purpose in the Trinity. We can reject the Holy Spirit’s purpose, by ignoring His instructions, by being disobedient to the will of God, or by turning a deaf ear to the voice of the Holy Spirit. — — Resisting the Spirit quenches and grieves the Holy Spirit and according to Acts 7, we must not grieve the Holy Spirit. For it is required of us to follow and obey His instructions, and you will know what is His because it will always be in agreement with God’s Word (The Holy Bible). You will also find that the Holy Spirit’s purpose is to reveal and glorify God the Father and His Son, Jesus.

Please do not reject the reality of God’s Holy Spirit active in God’s Churches today…
