Session #1 – Pg.#1
How can we walk in the VICTORY Jesus gives us? – God’s letter to us, has the answers… We are going to study one of the passages from God’s Word, the Bible, which was written to help us walk in the victorious life that God wants all His people to live in.
Let’s examine what we find Hebrews chapter 12… (Answer choices are intended to initiate discussion.)
Hebrews 12:1 We have all these great people around us as examples. Their lives tell us what faith means. So we, too, should run the race that is before us and never quit. We should remove from our lives anything that would slow us down and the sin that so often makes us fall.
*Keys to keeping Faith (Vs.1)… (Vs.1 Has steps to help keep our Faith strong.)
We are to value the examples of faithful Christians around us.
Q1. Why is it also important to take opportunity when offered, to testify of God’s work in your own life?
O – People will admire you. O – We can find out who is our friend.
O – Others will be encouraged by what God has done.
— It says we must never quit, and we are to remove anything that slows us down, and sins that make us fall…
Q2. What kind of things might slow us down? (Are they different then sins that make us fall?)

– Not only should we give praise to God for how he watches over us, but also for the victories we see in those around us, and of the brothers and sisters that went before us.
*(Our Chief example is Jesus Vs. 2-3) We must never stop looking to Jesus. He is the leader of our faith, and he is the one who makes our faith complete. He suffered death on a cross. But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing because of the joy he could see waiting for him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne. (3) Think about Jesus. He patiently endured the angry insults that sinful people were shouting at him. Think about him so that you won’t get discouraged and stop trying.
– As you think about who Jesus was (Truly was),
and how He suffered these insults to win your Victory…
Q3. Why would that help us to suffer abuses and not “lose it” and fall to sin?

(Vs. 4) You are struggling against sin, but you have not had to give up your life for the cause.
Q4. How can the accounts of others who withstood persecution and suffering strengthen us?

Session #1 – Pg.#2 *As Children of God, victory is assured. (Vs.5-10) You are children of God, and he speaks words of comfort to you. You have forgotten these words: “My child, don’t think the Lord’s discipline is worth nothing, and don’t stop trying when he corrects you. (6) The Lord disciplines everyone he loves; he punishes everyone he accepts as a child.” (7) So accept sufferings like a father’s discipline. God does these things to you like a father correcting his children. You know that all children are disciplined by their fathers. (8) So, if you never receive the discipline that every child must have, you are not true children and don’t really belong to God. (9) We have all had fathers here on earth who corrected us with discipline. And we respected them. So it is even more important that we accept discipline from the Father of our spirits. If we do this, we will have life. (10) Our fathers on earth disciplined us for a short time in the way they thought was best. But God disciplines us to help us so that we can be holy like him.
Q5. Is it important to know that you are a child of God, a part of His family? …(Why?)

_____________________________________________________________________________
Vs.7 says we are to accept sufferings as when a father corrects His children.
Q6. Does the Bible teach us that all suffering is a correction of Sin? (SEE John 9:1-3)
O – YES… O – NO… O – I DON’T THINK SO…
Q7. When discussing God’s discipline, which of these factors is true?
(Mark the answers you think are correct.)
O – God is ALL-KNOWING. O – God is our loving Creator. O – God is harsh and vindictive.
O – God has compassion for His creation. O – God understands our weakness.
O – God demands perfection from His children. O – God is a merciful and gracious Father.
O – God sometimes forgets about us. O – God wants us to have best the best life possible.
O – The best life leads to spending eternity with our loving Creator. O – God is LOVE.
*Learning from God’s corrections (Vs. 11-14) We don’t enjoy discipline when we get it. It is painful. But later, after we have learned our lesson from it, we will enjoy the peace that comes from doing what is right. (12) You have become weak, so make yourselves strong again. (13) Live in the right way so that you will be saved and your weakness will not cause you to be lost. (14) Try to live in peace with everyone. And try to keep your lives free from sin. Anyone whose life is not holy will never see the Lord.
Q8. (Vs. 14) Speaks of TRYING not to sin… Can we ever succeed in living a holy life?
O – We can’t, so WE’RE DOOMED! O – We must depend on God’s Grace.
O – We need to be quick to repent!
Q9. How do we obtain the holiness to come into God’s presence? (See Revelation 7:9-14)
Time for discussion, and prayer…
Lord willing, next week we will look at ‘Weeds in our life gardens’. (KRK)
