My wife and I were talking about how we, as people, need to reject the world’s standards of what makes you beautiful, handsome, or successful. We found two necessary corrections of worldly lies (deceptions).

#1/ The lie that you only have this one life to live, so get all you can out of it. Focus on enjoying yourself and the short ride you are given.

— In truth, Jesus explained in John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

— The Bible tells us the truth, that yes THIS life is temporary, HOWEVER,  God goes on to say that we need to look ahead to a life that will last forever. That should be the goal in this life, not short lived selfish pleasures of this world.

 

#2/ Don’t let Satan convince you to seek the approval of the world and give him the satisfaction of seeing your eternal destruction…
— See how he even tempted Jesus to do this when Satan asked Jesus to simply bow before him… Matthew 4:8-9…  Then the devil led Jesus to the top of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and all the wonderful things in them.  (9)  The devil said, “If you will bow down and worship me, I will give you all these things.”

— Jesus new that the temporary things Satan offered would cost an eternal price, so… Jesus said to him, “Get away from me, Satan! The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God. Serve only him!'” (Matthew 4:10).

— The lie is that we should live our lives so as to have others admire us.

— The truth is that we should live our lives to serve others, and to help those others also find a life that never ends, not to seek their praises.

— This can be found by anyone, if they seek the change Jesus told us of in John 3:5-7  Jesus answered, “Believe me when I say that everyone must be born from water and the Spirit. Anyone who is not born from water and the Spirit cannot enter God’s kingdom.  (6)  The only life people get from their human parents is physical. But the new life that the Spirit gives a person is spiritual.  (7)  Don’t be surprised that I told you, ‘You must be born again.’

 

Do you struggle with how to find this REBIRTH? Then you must earnestly seek Jesus, pray to Him, and He will lead you to find the way. As you pray to Jesus, you could also start reading through the New Testament of the Bible which explains how Jesus came to teach us all the way.
