‘A Tale of Two Brothers’
(Is there hope for addicts?)
I want to introduce to you a very brief true story about my two younger brothers…
Rick – God graciously took Him home at a point of one of his victories, because God knew Rick wasn’t strong enough to maintain his fight against his addictions and win.
— He had often gained a victory, only to be sucked back into that tragic black hole of an addict.
Tom – God continued to protect Tom through his struggles and failures because God knew Tom would eventually be able to defeat those temptations to fall back into his addictions.
You must understand that God knows these things, for He knows us better than we know ourselves.
— We also need to know that God’s mercy is for everyone who will choose Him as their Lord.
— We also need to discover the goal of life is not how you struggle here on earth, but where you will end up on the great and terrible day of God’s judgment.
— My comfort comes from knowing both my brothers have won the victory… Rick was set free as he crossed over safely into the arms of His Savior. I know that both have received the Grace of God in their lives. Both have been set free from Satan’s hold and his temptations. Both have won the victory over their addictions.
— And I have every confidence that I will walk with both of my brothers someday, free, renewed, and glorified by Jesus in a New Earth, for God’s Word tells us in the Book of Revelations 21:1-5, Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Are you praying for a loved one caught up in addictions?
— Or perhaps you also struggle with an addiction and want to be set free.
God is more than able to deliver you, and if you would like us to pray with you, drop me a note in the comments section. I will bring your request into our prayer time all I need is a first name,
for God will know your need and your heart’s desire.
— I am certain we will see His hand move in your life because God loves you that much.
May God lead and bless us all. — Pastor Ken Kriese (RBND) Retired But Not Done!
