Bible Quiz #21 – Do we live in PERILOUS TIMES?

Do we live in PERILOUS TIMES? (From 2nd Timothy 3)
This chapter is from a letter written by the Apostle Paul to Timothy.
— You may marvel at how these words apply to the days we now live in…

Let’s check it out… (Circle the correct answer.)

2nd Timothy 3:1-17 (CEV) You can be certain that in the last days there will be some very hard times.  (2)  People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud, stuck-up, rude, and disobedient to their parents. They will also be ungrateful, godless,  (3)  heartless, and hateful. Their words will be cruel, and they will have no self-control or pity. These people will hate everything that is good.

Q1. From Verse 1… Are we also living through “some very hard times”?

a/ No, everything is wonderful.     b/ Yes, all over the world people are hurting.

Q2. From Verse 2… “People will love only ____________ ____ ________.”

a/ fame and glory     b/ faith and God     c/ themselves and money

Q3. How do those who “love only themselves” behave?

They…  a/ disregard the rights of others.     b/ respect people with other faiths and viewpoints.

Also from Verse 2… “They will be proud, stuck-up, rude, and disobedient to their parents.”

Let’s look for these faults in society today…

Q4. How do the “proud and stuck up” behave?

They…  a/ believe they are superior to others.     b/ are always willing to learn from others.

Q5. How do the “rude” behave?

They…  a/ verbally attack and threaten others.     b/ show restraint and respect at all times.

Q6. Have you ever been disobedient to your parents?

a/ No, I was always a perfect child.     b/ Yes, guilty as charged.

Q7. What does it mean to be “ungrateful”?

a/ Seeing the good that others are trying to do.     b/ Seeing no value in the efforts of others.

Q8. What does it mean to be “godless”?

a/ Believing there is no Higher Power.     b/ Seeing a Higher Power at work in life.

Q9. Continuing to test ourselves from Verse 3, “(They will also be…) __________ ___ _______.”

a/ kind and loving.     b/ heartless and hateful.     c/ considerate and respectful.

Q10. Also from verse 3… How do we keep from using “cruel” words?

a/ By displaying self-control and pity (of others in error).     b/ By losing it and getting aggressive.

— Again from verse 3 note… These people will hate everything that is good.
Q11. First, answer this question, Why did God record His commands for mankind in the Bible?

a/ Because He wants to control you.     b/ Because He wants to protect you.

(Continued on pg.2)

Q12. Next, see the command from the Bible in Joshua 24:14-15, “But if you don’t want to worship the LORD, then choose right now!”
— Does this ability to choose to follow God or not, indicate a God who wants to control you?

a/ Yes, because He lets bad things happen when I refuse to follow Him.

b/ No, He wants me to freely step into His loving care, not forced obedience.

Q13. So why do people hate God’s commands for mankind in the Bible?

a/ They are blinded by a spirit of self-will.     b/ They are deceived by Satan.     c/ both a & b

Since we are already risking offending those who think there is no God…
Let’s step into our modern-day controversies… That of Abortion, and the right to assisted suicide.

Q14. Which position below supports those who desire free abortion and assisted suicide?

a/ There is no God, so the choice of life or death always remains our decision.

b/ God is the giver of life and as such every life must be viewed as sacred and precious.

I will let 2nd Timothy 3:4-5 bring this quiz to a close…

 (4)  They will be sneaky, reckless, and puffed up with pride. Instead of loving God, they will love pleasure.  (5)  Even though they will make a show of being religious, their religion won’t be real. Don’t have anything to do with such people.

Q15. Does God allow homosexual activity in the Bible? (You choose the correct answer.)

a/ Yes, we are told to love one another as in John 13:35.

b/ No, the reasons for this are clear in 1st Corinthians 6:9-20.

________________________________

Hopefully, I have avoided any problems with censorship policing, for these days speaking out about God’s love and care for mankind as written in the Bible can be misread and labeled ‘Hate speech’.
— Such is the measure our modern-day societies are living out verses 4-5 above.

However, don’t think all is doom and gloom, for if we allow God to be our strength as Paul did, his words which close off this chapter should encourage us to keep doing good and avoid bitterness.

(SEE Vs. 16-17)  Everything in the Scriptures is God’s Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.  (17)  The Scriptures train God’s servants to do all kinds of good deeds.
— While not having full knowledge of the sufferings of those who question their physical body’s sex, I have seen the temptations of various sexual deviances, and following God’s Word I understand that it is not the confused person who is put at odds with God, it is their unnatural sexual activities which must be stopped to enter His protection and loving care. He loves the sinner, but can not accept sin. Abstinence from unnatural sexual activity must accompany a Christian’s walk if they suffer sexual confusion and yet seek a relationship with God. Let’s all Be strong, and God will bless! (KK)

I read Corinthians 6:9-20 and love how God calls his followers to honor God with their bodies.God teaches us how to keep our bodies holy and gives us strict rules how to keep ourselves Holy so we could walk with him in constant communion. Thank you ken!
