Intro to our Fall of 2021 Bible studies

As we start a new season of Bible studies I cannot stop calling Christians to follow the examples of our Biblical Mentors Joshua and Caleb…

So I will start ALL MY QUESTIONS FOR YOU with this:
1/ Does God require us to be SPIRITUAL FIGHTERS? (To be strong in spiritual battles)
— In other words, Are we to regard the charge given to Joshua as a command for ALL FOLLOWERS, even unto us these days?
— SEE
Joshua 1:7-9 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. (8) This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (9) Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

For a Bible answer, let’s also read…

2nd Timothy 2:11-15 The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; (12) if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; (13) if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself. (14) Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. (15) Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

2/ So, do you think that God still requires us to be ‘strong and courageous as we face ever-increasing attacks on our faith from this sad and perishing world?

3/ And how do these verses say we are to accomplish this strength in battle? (A diligent study of God’s Word)
— What is required to properly discern scriptures as we study them?
(The lead of our TEACHER the Holy Spirit)

4/ My final question for today is… Do you see a common solution to the confusion of interpreting WORDS in scripture, as we read from both the OT and NT in the Bible?
(To be “rightly handling the word of truth” we need the Holy Spirit to reveal His Word, and this also requires taking all God’s Word in context, that is incorporating each statement into the setting and the surrounding verses, to fully understand the author’s intent.)

As we close this introductory session and enter a time of further fellowship and prayer, I hope you have been encouraged and strengthened. For I know we all have our battles to fight… God bless you with His courage, health, and strength? (KK)

Lord willing, next week we will enter into a Bible discussion of who Jesus is to a born-again Christian. I hope you can return for that.
